Program of Study
Honors Program Requirements
The requirements for completion of the College of Education and Health Professions Honors Program are as follows:
- The student meets all university, COEHP, and department degree requirements.
- Minimum completion of 18 hours of honors credit. The following courses are required:
- up to 8 hours honors credits in University courses
- minimum of 10 hours honors credits taken within the student's program of study including:
- (departmental/major/program prefix) 390H1 Honors Thesis/Project Tutorial
- Exercise Science students may complete EXSC 372H3 instead of EXSC 390H1
- Public Health students may complete PBHL 372H3 instead of PBHL 390H1
- Nursing students will complete NURS 373H3 instead of NURS 390H1
- Physical Education students will complete PHED 399H1 instead of PHED 390H1
- (departmental/major/program prefix) 498HV Honors Thesis/Project (total of 3 hours)
- (departmental/major/program prefix) 390H1 Honors Thesis/Project Tutorial
- Written submission of the honors thesis/project to the COEHP Honors Council and oral presentation of the Honors Thesis/Project to faculty and students within COEHP.
- Graduation with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
- Honors courses must be completed in residence at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville
campus in order to satisfy the required 18 honors credits to receive the COEHP Honors
distinction.
- Any honors credits awarded based on AP/IB results shall not be used to fulfill this requirement.
- Transfer students from other four-year institutions may initiate an appeal with the COEHP Honors Council if they wish to have transfer honors credit satisfy part of the 18 hour requirement.
- All honors courses must be completed with grade of C or better to be counted toward the 18-credit hour requirement.
Honors Distinction Levels
Students successfully completing the COEHP Honors Program are eligible to receive a baccalaureate degree with a distinction of:
Summa Cum Laude will be awarded honors students graduating with a GPA ≥ 3.9.
Magna Cum Laude will be awarded honors students graduating with a GPA 3.7 - 3.89.
Cum Laude will be awarded honors students graduating with a GPA 3.5 - 3.69.
