Admission Requirements

The following are admission criteria for students seeking admission to the COEHP Honors Program:

Entering Freshmen:

  • 28 ACT or 1310 SAT (Critical Reading + Math). Honors admission is based on your highest composite ACT or SAT score, not on superscores.
  • 3.75 or greater high school GPA

Students who meet the Option #1 requirements will be invited to apply through their New Student Center after they have been admitted to the University of Arkansas. Students who complete the Option #1 application on their New Student Center will be automatically admitted to the Honors College.

Students who have at least a 3.90 high school GPA but do not have the necessary ACT/SAT score for automatic admission will be invited to complete an application in the spring of their senior year. Students who fall into this category will be invited to apply in mid-January and the application will be due by February 1. The Honors College will review the application and inform applicants whether or not they have been admitted to honors by the end of March.

Components of Option #2 Application

1) Essay - Write a well-developed essay (600 words maximum) responding to the following prompt: Why do you want to become a student in the University of Arkansas Honors College? What do you feel you would be able to contribute to the honors community?

2) Academic Resume - Applicants will upload a copy of their academic resume to the application. Please limit your resume to no more than two (2) pages. For tips on how to prepare an academic resume, please visit the university's Academic Scholarship website

*Attention: Students who have made significant progress in their degree plan, or students who have completed the secondary application process for their desired major (Communication Sciences & Disorders, Education, Nursing, Public Health), may not have sufficient courses remaining in their degree plan to complete Honors course requirements prior to graduation. In such cases, the application may be rejected even if the minimum Honors admission criteria have been met. Students may appeal to the COEHP Honors Program Director if they feel this decision has been reached in error.

All students who are within four semesters of their anticipated graduation are strongly encouraged to meet with the COEHP Honors Program Director, Associate Director, or their academic advisor to review Honors course requirements prior to submitting an application.
